Serenade

The boat was great. Perfect in fact. The crew was wonderful and Arnie made lots of new friends. For that matter, so did we.

We were extremely fortunate to wind up with four people who had a sense of humor (very important when traveling with Arnie!). We spent a delightful week with John & Marie, Fred, and Terrée.

John and Marie quickly befriended Arnie. Marie soon became his new honorary Aunt (and we hope will soon have a pen friend for Arnie!) and John ransomed Arnie from the clutches of the crazed Canadian traveling with us.

As for me, Terrée and I escorted our elegantly appointed friend to the fancy dress party on board.

Time spent on the boat was wonderfully relaxing. Our cabin had a small balcony (one of two on the ship - we splurged) and a lovely sitting area. Apart from the furnishings, it was decorated every day by the cabin attendants who were extremely creative with the towels and blankets (not to mention Arnie and my clothes)...

The weather was quite warm and the sun very strong, so we didn’t spend much time sun bathing. The pool was briskly refreshing. I believe Larry called it *&^%%$ cold. Marie and Arnie didn’t seem to mind very much though...

But of course, we didn’t come on a cruise just to soak up the sun and enjoy the food. The site-seeing kept us very busy! Our first stop was the West bank of the Nile at Luxor.
